So what is Taking Notice?

On the face of it, taking notice can see a little vague, so what do we mean by taking notice and how does it improve your wellbeing?

In its simplest form, taking notice is closely related to mindfulness, in that by taking notice of the moment we are in and the world around us we can slow down the pace of life, appreciate the little things that make us happy and understand how we are feeling in the moment.

This in turn can help us to enjoy life a little more and appreciate all it has to offer, whilst understanding ourselves a little better too.

It’s good for our wellbeing as it can help regulate our stress levels, as regular practice can help us to problem solve more effectively.

Stress has been linked to a range of medical conditions including headaches, stomach problems, high blood pressure, sleeping difficulties and heart disease to name just a few.   Even if we don’t think we suffer from stress or feel able to control it, there can be signs in the body that means we are not as immune to it as we think.

So how do we ‘Take Notice’?

Our foster parents have shared a range of ideas and suggests of how they take notice.  We’ll be sharing all of these across our social media channels during this spring, so follow us on Facebook or Instagram to keep across all of our tips of how to Take Notice as well as finding out more about all the ‘5 Ways to Wellbeing’ too.

Our tips will include several themes including:

Getting out of the house, being in nature or just a different environment and seeing the world around you.

Really paying attention to what others are saying to you, so you can pick up on the nonverbal cues too.

Taking some well-deserved time for yourself, whenever you can.

By picking those elements that work for you and your lifestyle you’ll have a range of techniques that you can call upon at different times of the day, in different situations and when you have different amounts of time available to you.

We can’t discuss ‘Taking Notice’ without discussing Mindfulness.  You can find out more about this in our Mindfulness blog.
